All God’s Children Got Rhythm – The Work of De’Joneiro Jones

De’Joneiro Jones is a life-long citizen of St. Louis: an art collector, mentor of young artists and an artist himself. His work explodes with energy. Stand back and you see splashes of loud, bright, insistent color, texture, and shape. Then look closer: you will find any number of objects collaged into the work: a postcard advertising a high fashion retail store, a Jimi Hendrix postage stamp. His work allows us to contemplate racial and socio-economic tensions we experience in our society. The many questions posed in his canvases invite us to think deeply about our experience of being human in a time of division and confusion.
