Ari Axelrod’s Jewish Broadway

** attendees will be required to provide proof of COVID 19 vaccination (card or screenshot accepted, with a photo id) OR a negative COVID test within 48 hours of entry to the J.

The New Jewish Theatre presents New York Cabaret Star Ari Axelrod in Ari Axelrod’s Jewish Broadway, honoring the songs and stories of Jewish composers and their contributions to the American musical. Beloved melodies and lyrics by the likes of Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Schwartz, and Carole King will transport the audience back to the streets of the theatre district, your bubbie’s Shabbos table or the places of your dreams.

This show melds great American music with Ari’s charm and talent, all the while focusing on the deeper subject of Judaism. In discussing the contributions to the American musical theater of Irving Berlin, Jerry Herman, Cole Porter, Bock & Harnick, Stephen Schwartz, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jason Robert Brown, and The Gershwin’s, Axelrod illustrates the heavy underlying presence of Jewish culture, including the inherent struggles that come with the faith. Axelrod is the new wave of cabaret creator, and he is here to celebrate, investigate, and illuminate.
