“The 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi started in early April and my parents had to flee to Goma while I was still inside my mother’s womb. The family came back when the country was liberated in July and I was born in Kigali one month later. But upon return, everything the family owned was gone. My mother also lost all members of her family, except one sister who also escaped the horrid human massacre.”
