Author Talk: Missouri’s Mad Doctor McDowell – Confederates, Cadavers and Macabre Medicine

The Field House Museum is pleased to welcome Victoria Cosner, co-author of the book Missouri’s Mad Doctor McDowell: Confederates, Cadavers and Macabre Medicine, on Friday, October 20 at 1:00 pm. Just in time for the Halloween season, Cosner will share the tale of body snatcher and bona fide mad scientist Dr. Joseph Nash McDowell.
This program is free with limited availability in person and on Zoom. Reservations must be made in advance through Eventbrite, by calling the Museum at 314-421-4689, or by emailing info@fieldhousemuseum.org.

About the Speaker:
Victoria Cosner has spent the better part of 40 years poking around graveyards and digging for lost pieces of history. She is especially fond of delving into missing pieces of women’s history. A longtime member of the Association for Gravestone Studies, she has worked in public history facilities for over 35 years. She holds a master’s degree in American Studies, specializing in cultural landscapes of garden cemeteries. She works for Missouri State Parks at the Outreach and Engagement Section Chief and adores her dogs and kid. They all visit cemeteries, state parks and museums whenever they get the chance.
