The Pulitzer Arts Foundation presents the first retrospective of trailblazing artist Barbara Chase-Riboud (b. 1939, Philadelphia) in over forty years. This exhibition will be the largest monographic exhibition of her work to date, tracing the artist’s full career from the 1950s to the present moment. The Pulitzer will feature both celebrated and never-before-seen works, highlighting the artist’s groundbreaking role in the field of contemporary sculpture. In addition to some fifty sculptures, the exhibition will include twenty works on paper as well as a selection of Chase-Riboud’s internationally acclaimed poetry. When considered together, these diverse aspects of the artist’s practice offer unprecedented insight into her meditations on form, memory, and monument, while revealing a rich array of global art-historical and literary points of inspiration.
