From Courtroom to Couture: Designing an Unexpected Career

Walé Oyéjidé, Esq. is often described as a “Renaissance man” who combats bias with creative storytelling. Learn about his entrepreneurial journey from musician to lawyer to filmmaker, writer, designer and the head of a global brand that uses fashion design as a vehicle to celebrate the perspectives of marginalized populations. Glean tips from his multi-faceted career path to guide the evolution of your own career.

Oyéjidé is the founder of Ikiré Jones. In addition to his role as the brand’s creative director, he designs its textiles/accessories and serves as the company’s writer. He gave a TED Talk at TED Global 2017 in Tanzania and spoke at the National Geographic Story Teller’s Summit in 2019.

Oyéjidé’s presentation is the latest in COCAbiz’s bizSESSION Series, which welcomes progressive thought leaders to offer insights and inspiration on embracing creativity and innovation in business.
