Carrie Gillen is a St. Louis-based installation artist, sculptor, painter, scenic designer, and educator. Her interdisciplinary work is an exploration of materials used in contemporary building practice, design, and fabrication. She manipulates these materials, investigating and finding visual signifiers that represent a discourse with space. Gillen is interested in re-ordering the material that surrounds, protects, and often defines our livelihood.
