The Compton Heights Concert Band’s “Sunday Serenades” series in Francis Park kicks off Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 7:30 PM. Join us for six weeks, every Sunday evening in Francis Park, for fun-filled, old-fashioned, Sousa-style band concerts with special guest artists! This is the 41st Anniversary of the Compton Heights Concert Band.
The series starts with a Tribute to July 4th, a patriotic showcase featuring the booming baritone vocal soloist, Robert Ellison! Robert will perform Sinatra favorites, “New York, New York”, “It Was A Very Good Year”, and “My Way”. He will also perform the splendid “What a Wonderful World”, and patriotic favorites such as “America, The Beautiful”.
The Compton Heights Band will showcase “A Tribute to Irving Berlin”, “Space Medley”, “Broadway Show-Stoppers”, and will pay tribute to members of the armed services in “Armed Forces Salute”. The concert finale is a spectacular performance of “Overture 1812” Finale, replete with authentic civil war cannons.
