Visual artist CYJO, who was born in Korea but raised in the U.S., addresses migration and the evolution of identity and culture in her photographic and textual portrait called KYOPO, which she will present at the annual Gateway Korea Foundation’s annual Dano Spring Festival in St. Louis.
CYJO’s photographic series profiles over 200 people of Korean ethnicity, and includes excerpts from interviews on a myriad of topics – including adoption, generational expectations, and civic activity. KYOPO was exhibited at The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in 2011 and 2012, and select portraits are now in their permanent collection.
