Drawing Workshop: Drawing Beyond the Photo with Shana Levenson

DRAWING WORKSHOP – DRAWING BEYOND THE PHOTO WITH SHANA LEVENSON

3 Day Workshop
April 30 – May 2, 2020
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day

The Galleries at Heartland Art Club
101A West Argonne
Kirkwood, Missouri 63122

$450 ($405 for Heartland Art Club Members)

Students will create a finished charcoal portrait drawing from a photo reference Shana provides for the students. Being able to create authentic drawings and capture the essence of the person we are drawing will be a major focal point of the workshop. We will successfully create emotive drawings from your photo.

Emphasis will be placed on value control and edges. By focusing on deliberate pencil pressure and maintaining accurate mass relationships rather than rendering, the application of hatched directional marks creates form and energy. Students will use the method of relative sizing to transcribe their photograph to their paper.

This workshop aims to guide students toward creating a drawing from a photo reference.
