Emerson SPRING TO DANCE® Festival 2021

DANCE ON, St. Louis! Emerson SPRING TO DANCE® Festival returns—live and in-person—June 25, 26 & 27, 2021. Now, in its 13th year, Whitaker Foundation and Dance St. Louis are proud to present one of the region’s must-see festivals in a new, partially open-air venue with socially distant pod seating and contactless ticketing for your safety. Join us under The Big Top in the Grand Center Arts District for what the Chicago Tribune calls, “arguably the best dance buffet in the Midwest.”

Emerson SPRING TO DANCE Festival 2021 features companies from New York City, San Francisco and Miami to Chicago, Detroit, Kansas City and St. Louis. Dancers and companies include:

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Jacqueline Green
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s former principal artist Antonio Douthit-Boyd
Boom Crack! Dance Company
DanceWorks Chicago
Eisenhower Dance Detroit
Karlovsky & Company Dance
Kansas City Ballet
Miami City Ballet’s Jennifer Lauren & Rainer Krenstetter
Owen/Cox Dance Group
PARA.MAR Dance Theatre
Störling Dance Theater
Tristian Griffin Dance Company
Visceral Dance Chicago

A highlight to this year’s festival is Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Jacqueline Green, who will perform all three days of the festival. She is scheduled to perform the stunning 16-minute solo, CRY, which was choreographed by Alvin Ailey as a birthday present for his mother. She will also perform the duet FIX ME, JESUS, a deeply moving, stirring work from Alvin Ailey’s “Revelations,” with former AAADT principal artist, Antonio Douthit-Boyd, a St. Louis native, local arts leader, and current co-artistic director of dance at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA).

Dance St. Louis has been approved as Missouri ArtSafe Certified. All guests will be required to wear a mask while attending the festival. Dance St. Louis’ highest priority during the coronavirus pandemic is the health, safety, and peace of mind of its patrons, performers and crew.
