Faculty Book Talk: Michelle A. Purdy

As part of the University Libraries Faculty Book Talk series, Michelle Purdy will discuss “Transforming the Elite: Black Students and the Desegregation of Private Schools”. In her book, Purdy analyzes how and why historically white elite private schools opted to desegregate when not legally obligated to do so during the civil rights movement and the experiences of black students to desegregate such schools. Purdy is assistant professor in education and director of Undergraduate Educational Studies at Washington University in St. Louis.

A reception will follow the discussion. Books will be available for purchase. Free and open to the public.
