Howard Barry: Inertia

Gallery 210 is pleased to present an exhibition of mixed media drawings by St. Louis artist Howard Barry. The exhibition Inertia opens on September 14 at 4PM with an artist’s talk followed by a reception for the artist from 5PM to 7PM.

Howard Barry’s artwork can be read as asserting the subjective value of the individual against the injustices of contemporary life. Barry’s drawings – of historic civil rights images and as images of the present-day Black Lives Matter struggle – are in a feverishly present conversation with their surface. At a very deep level his drawings are an assertion of mortality against the false idea that history, and its oppressions, are over.
