Left Bank Books welcomes award-winning author, poet and human rights advocate Ibtisam Barakat, who will sign and discuss her young adult memoir, “Balcony on the Moon: Coming of Age in Palestine”!

This event is free and open to the public, but proof of purchase of “Balcony on the Moon” from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.

Spanning the years from second grade through high school, “Balcony on the Moon” is a follow-up Barakat’s first memoir, “Tasting the Sky,” and describes her family’s struggle to maintain their identity in Israeli-occupied Palestine, where “we are made to live with no land, no country, no rights, no safety and no respect for our human dignity.” Barakat has addressed many national and international audiences as an advocate for human rights, the education of girls and ending racism.
