VA’ SENTIERO: DISCOVERING THE GRAND ITALIAN TRAIL
Thursday, Sept. 16 • 6:00 p.m.
Collinsville Library’s Community Room, 408 W. Main Street, Collinsville, Illinois
(Director, Andrea Buonopane, Documentary, 2020, 50 min.)’Let’s “join” seven young trekkers as they experience the mountains, villages, food, people, and hospitality on the Sentiero Italia, which at over 4000 miles, is the world’s longest mountain trail. We’ll join them on their six-month journey as they trek the first part of the trail from Muggia to Visso, through the stunning Alps and Apennines. CNN called it “the greatest of the Great Walks.”
Free screening.
The film is in Italian with English subtitles. The audience will be required to wear a mask during the screening in compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health policy.

Film courtesy of Associazione Va’ Sentiero.
Before the film, enjoy the exhibit ITALY: UP CLOSE & PERSONAL which is on display from September 1st to October 15th. This year, we’re partnering with the seven, passionate, young Italians of the Va’ Sentiero group as they walk the spectacular Grand Italian Trail! At the exhibit (near the Library’s Main Desk), we’ll take you behind the scenes, show how they prepare for their journey, trekking supplies, etc. Through amazing photos, you’ll follow the path “with” them as they explore one of the most challenging expeditions on foot.
In addition, don’t miss a special exhibit now showing in the Library’s West Wing glass cases (EXPLORING ROANA: UP CLOSE & PERSONAL) about an area not far from the Grand Italian Trail. Experience this fascinating, mountain village in the Veneto — from a local family who have had a Roana “connection” for more than 100 years.
