The St. Louis Cultural Flamenco Society presents one of its most ambitious projects yet: choreographing original dances to illustrate select works of Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Audiences can experience the moving poems, songs, and dances in two performances on Mother’s Day, May 14, at the Westport Playhouse in Westport Plaza. “Lorca Es Flamenco” underscores the famed writer’s lifelong love of music as well as his advocacy for marginalized groups in Spain and around the world. It also touches on universal themes like unrequited love, war, and death, but also hope and happiness.
Tickets are available for $40 each through Afton Tickets or by sending a check or money order to the St. Louis Cultural Flamenco Society, P.O. Box 21818, St. Louis MO 63109.
