Joyce Burris participated in Sherwood Forest Camp (United Way) during hery junior high years. In addition to a weekly arts & crafts day, the campers enjoyed a field trip to the St. Louis Art Museum. She was intrigued by both activities. When she saw the works of Gordon Parks photos she was inspired. It was the late 50’s and early 60’s. Joyce did not see leaving home and becoming a female Gordon Parks as a viable option. And yet, she had fallen in love with photography. Throughout her live, while continuing her professional development as a hospital central services technician, Joyce made sure she had a camera, and she took hundreds and hundreds of photos. This exhibit shows but a few, and they are Joyce’s AHHH moments, shared with you.
