On Sunday July 30 at 3:30pm, after an 8-week intensive Summer Camp, the students of the JUMP (Junior Urban Music Program) and Urban Youth Orchestra join for an end of the summer concert. Program includes Tchaikovsky’s passionate Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture, Sam Hoar (17) performing the Trumpet concerto in E flat by Jan Křtitel Neruda, and concludes with the stirring finale “Radnice” from Leoš Janáček’s “Sinfonietta”.
The orchestra is students from McCluer, Normandy, Metro, Gateway, and Grand Center Arts Academy as well community members. They are known for performing world-class music with unusual skill.
Orchestrating Diversity is a free orchestral music education program for all St. Louis Area youth. As a part of the El Sistema Movement, we see playing music in ensembles as a key tool for empowering and uniting our youth.
Performance will be held at the Pilgrim Congregational Church of Christ, 826 Union Blvd.
