Course Description: The Magic of Color

They say values do all the work and color gets all the credit. My approach is to make sure that there is a good underlying value structure first, which creates opportunities to play with color. In my work I’m always searching for ways to make the familiar seem new, personalizing nature and making it my own, expressing what is inside me. I will show some ways that I set up the design so that my color is amplified and supported by value.

I will do a demonstration to start each day. As I work, I will discuss what I’m doing and why, and answer questions. In a slide show I will share examples of work by masters of color whose work I admire. We will break for lunch and then students will work on their own piece, and I will lend support and make suggestions as needed.
