Peter Martin

In lieu of touring during the COVID-19 pandemic, acclaimed jazz pianist Peter Martin found a new normal by performing a series of solo piano concerts live from Open Studio. Martin is ecstatic to be returning to the impeccable acoustics of the historic Sheldon Concert Hall, where he has shared so many musical high points over the past 15+ years, with wonderful audiences, guest artists and fellow collaborators.

Peter Martin is an acclaimed jazz pianist who has performed and recorded on six continents with Wynton Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Betty Carter, Christian McBride and Joshua Redman, as well as his own ensembles. Martin is also a dedicated educator and founder of Open Studio, an innovative online jazz learning platform featuring some of today’s top musicians. Martin has recorded over 400 lessons, pioneering the field of online jazz education and was recently featured in The New York Times for his ground-breaking work. He also co-hosts the acclaimed music podcast “You’ll Hear It” with Adam Maness.
