Remembering Gene Mackey, Architect

Exhibit opening reception with remarks from John Burse, Principal, Mackey Mitchell Architects. Free and open to the public.
The exhibit is a retrospective tribute to the life and work of Gene Mackey, Fifty years ago, Eugene J. Mackey opened his architecture firm with a hear directed toward civic design founded in a preservation ethic. Gene developed a reputation for speaking up on behalf of the spirit of buildings and saving them from the wrecking ball. His values of curiosity, innovation, drive, and discovery were instilled in the firm he founded in 1968 and continue to be upheld by Mackey Mitchell Architects every day.
Sixty years ago, Landmarks Association of St. Louis was formed by people who, like Gene, regarded St. Louis’ historic architecture as a priceless cultural legacy and an irreplaceable asset. We are proud to host this exhibition in honor of our friend Gene Mackey.
