Resilient is an exploration of the ways that we individually and collectively experience resilience both physically and emotionally. It is an inquiry into the quality and experience of resilience: how it shows up and enables, as well as its limitations; how it keeps us moving through life’s everyday challenges as well as the unimaginable, and seemingly unbearable. Each piece in the concert tackles these questions uniquely.
Resilient is a hybrid of Leverage Dance Theater’s signature site-specific concert dance. The first half of the concert takes place in the Intersect Arts Center Gallery amidst the current exhibition, Plaid Progress and the second half takes place in the dance studio. Curated by Lyndon Barrois Jr., Plaid Progress brings together artists based in St. Louis and other cities and references a lateral notion of moving forward, thinking of culture forming as plaid patterns are woven, with intersecting colors and varying widths of warp and weft, producing durable fabric.
