The Space Between Series art exhibit by Margaret Keller
The Space Between looks at nature and questions how to see it now that the virtual world of images (online photographs, videos, movies) has become more real than reality for so many. With a large-scale, 52 foot-long wall installation of 30 round oil paintings/mixed media works, Keller shows imagery that at first glance is not obviously trees, sky, and mountains. Our world of television, video, and the internet is so completely mediated through photography that we are often blind to the distortion and manipulation of the camera’s eye. The Space Between redirects the photographically-derived focus that pervasively informs our perceptions of nature so the human eye intervenes with the camera’s eye and takes priority. Also included is Keller’s floor-to-ceiling 14 foot-high laser cut sculpture Link, mixed media work with miniature glitter-filled hemispheres, and large-scale paintings. Keller was recently commissioned for the 105 foot-long aluminum sculpture Riverbend at The Gateway Arch.
