What’s Love Got to Do with It?

In honor of Valentine’s Day, the Missouri History Museum is hosting a special event centered on St. Louis stories of love gone right – and love gone wrong.

Community tours manager Amanda Clark will regale guests with the love stories of historic figures such as Dred and Harriet Scott, Marie Thérèse Bourgeois Chouteau (known as the mother of St. Louis) and Pierre Laclède, as well as tales of jilted lovers and the ultimate St. Louis breakup: the 1876 “Great Divorce” between St. Louis city and St. Louis County.

Along the way, attendees will also enjoy some old-school educational films that offer advice on love and marriage.

Before the program, the love will start flowing at a happy hour featuring vintage advice columns, hands-on activities and even a quiz to help you find your St. Louis history soul mate! Food and drinks will also be available for purchase from Sugarfire Smoke House.

What’s Love Got to Do with It is part of Thursday Nights at the Museum, which begin at 5:30 p.m. on select Thursdays with a happy hour and pop-up activities, including brief tours, performances and games, followed by more themed fun!
