The St. Louis Women’s Chorus will take their audience on a journey from the parade down Locust Street in September 1916 advocating “Votes for Women” to recent victories of marriage equality and empowerment of transgender persons. In the last century, there have been many successes and challenges in the pursuit of equality and justice for women. However, we must continue to be heard!
The diverse performance will include songs such as, “You Don’t Own Me”, “This Little Light of Mine”, and “I’m Coming Out”, The chorus will celebrate the past while recognizing that there are many battles yet to be won and will leave the audience with a call to action in selections such as “Fired Up”, “Standing on the Shoulders”, and “Will the Circle be Unbroken”.
In collaboration with the Missouri History Museum, CHARIS presents the final concert of their 24th season, “Women Rising” on April 28th & 29th in the Des Lee Auditorium, located in beautiful Forest Park at 5700 Lindell Boulevard, Saint Louis
