St. Louis art enthusiasts can win prizes by locating pumpkins carved by local artists

ST. LOUIS (October 20, 2014) – The Regional Arts Commission (RAC) is inviting all St. Louis area art lovers to participate in a fun competition – the RAC-o-Lantern STL Arts Scavenger Hunt – from Thursday, October 23 through Wednesday, October 29, at various arts and cultural institutions throughout the St. Louis region.  Each day for a week, one pumpkin, creatively hand carved by a local artist, will be placed at a different location. Daily clues to the pumpkin’s whereabouts will be disseminated through RAC’s Twitter account, with bonus clues provided on RAC’s STL Arts mobile app. Participants will enter the hunt contest by taking a photo with the found pumpkin and posting to Twitter with the hashtag #FindYours. A daily prize will be given away for the most creative photo, and winners will be entered to win a grand prize package of tickets and merchandise from local arts organizations.

In partnership with local arts and culture organizations, The RAC-o-lantern STL Arts Scavenger Hunt is powered by the Regional Arts Commission in celebration of the launch of its new STL Arts events app, which helps St. Louisans easily find arts and culture events throughout the region. The Scavenger Hunt takes participants on a “tour” of local arts and culture sites.

“The RAC-o-lantern STL Arts Scavenger Hunt is a fun and different way to connect people to our thriving arts and culture sites in the St. Louis area,” says RAC’s Executive Director Jill McGuire. “Because our STL Arts app helps people find arts and culture events, we created a scavenger hunt that also leads participants to search for new, creative experiences.”

About the Regional Arts Commission: The Regional Arts Commission leads, strengthens and gives voice to a creative community where every citizen can be proud to live, work and play in a world-class region.
