On Tuesday (Dec. 13), The Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis (RAC) presented its latest crop of Artist Fellowship recipients with a special reception in their honor.
RAC awarded fellowships at $20,000 each to ten local artists totaling $200,000 as part of its annual round of Artist Fellowships. This is the fourth year that RAC has offered the Artist Fellowships.
The fellowships will allow for the development of the individual artist’s career, providing the necessary time and space to study, reflect, experiment, explore and create. These awards are not grants in the traditional sense but “fellowships” in terms of a financial endowment or investment in the careers of St. Louis artists. The RAC Artist Fellowship program is among the few multi-disciplinary fellowship programs of its kind in the United States.
This year artists ranged in concentration from filmmaking and media arts to classical music, literature and theatre.
