This sculpture is part of a plaza consisting of flower beds and a semi-circular cement wall on which are mounted five bas-reliefs. A bronze bust sitting in the center of the plaza shows Perkins, the former zoo director, holding a lion cub. The cast-bronze reliefs surrounding Perkins depict men feeding a snake, baboons in the wild, hippos in the water, a group of elephants, and Perkins, surrounded by children and animals in a zoo setting.
