About
The developers of Gateway One, a new office tower in St. Louis, commissioned Passanise to produce a work of public art relating to the enormous controversy surrounding the demolition of historic buildings. The artist created a metaphorical gateway by assembling two vertical black granite slabs, stacked and framed and mounted over a stream of flowing water. He called the sculpture Cambrian Gate after the black Canadian cambrian granite used for the piece. The gateway symbolizes the passage from old to new, from tradition to change, from past to future.
