About
William Timym (pronounced “Tim”) was an artist whose most well known work is probably the Bleep and Booster cartoons for the BBC’s Blue Peter. Other cartoons he produced include Bengo the Boxer puppy.
He was also a bronze sculptor: Elephant Fountain is a great example of his realistic wildlife sculptures. The young elephant, with its head raised, is actually a fountain situated in a shallow pool of water. Timym designed the sculpture so that water squirts continually from the elephant’s trunk over its back. The work was one of the generous gifts to the Zoo from St. Louis philanthropists Sidney and Sadie Cohen.
