Local art organization Counterpublic hosts an internal use database with artists working in the region. This tool connects local artists with future opportunities at Counterpublic.

The Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis is the largest funder of the arts in St. Louis and our priority is to support the diverse collective of artists and arts organizations that make community so vibrant.

FRANK YOUNG FUND FOR NEW MUSICALS
Through the Frank Young Fund for New Musicals, the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) supports collaborations between member theatres and musical theatre writers. They provide grants to support new musicals at all stages of development, at theatres of all sizes, with the goal of bringing quality new musicals to audiences across the country. They offer three types of grants: a writers residency grant, a project development grant, and a production grant. 

GREAT RIVERS BIENNIAL ART AWARD 
The Great Rivers Biennial is a collaborative program presented by the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAM) and the Gateway Foundation identifying talented emerging and mid-career artists working in the greater St. Louis metro area. Every two years, three winners receive a grant of $20,000 and are featured in an exhibition at CAM.  

MID-AMERICA ARTS ALLIANCE
The Mid-America Arts Alliance offers many grants, fellowships, professional development, and support opportunities throughout the year to artists in a variety of fields. 

MISSOURI ARTS COUNCIL’S FEATURED ARTISTS PROGRAM 
The Missouri Arts Council Featured Artists Program promotes and supports individual artists while demonstrating the variety of creative talent in Missouri. Awarded artists are highlighted, promoted, and receive a $500 stipend/license fee to feature their work online. 

NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is an independent federal agency that is the largest funder of the arts and arts education in communities nationwide and a catalyst of public and private support for the arts. They support the nation’s arts sector with a variety of grant opportunities throughout the year.  

THE GOTTLIEB FOUNDATION 
The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation offers annual individual support grants to painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have been creating mature art for at least 20 years based on financial need. They aim to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success. 

THE LUMINARY FUTURES FUND
The Luminary’s Futures Fund supports innovative, experimental, and future-oriented projects throughout the St. Louis region. Grants average between $2,500 and $8,000. 

THE PUFFIN FOUNDATION
The Puffin Foundation seeks to open the doors of artistic expression by providing grants to artists and art organizations who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to their identities or social philosophies. 

UNITED STATES ARTISTS FELLOWSHIP AWARDS
The United States Artists mission is to nurture, support, and strengthen the work of America’s finest living artists. The USA Fellowships are annual, one-time $50,000 awards recognizing compelling artists and cultural practitioners working in the United States and its island jurisdictions, in all disciplines, at every stage of their career. 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

ARTIST INC: ST. LOUIS
The Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis partnered with M-AAA to deliver Artist INC to St. Louis. Artists of all disciplines. Artist INC offers a variety of programs each year, from free virtual workshops to eight-week in-person sessions. Each program helps artists learn business skills relevant to their work and turn their art practices into sustainable art careers by addressing common challenges and helping artists take control of their art careers.  

AMERICANS FOR THE ARTS: ARTSU TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Americans for the Arts offers ArtsU to members, which is an online education forum for arts leaders and professionals to gain new skills, knowledge, and connections to further their personal and organizational goals. 

CREATIVE CAPITAL 
Creative Capital acts as a catalyst for the development of adventurous and imaginative ideas by supporting artists who pursue innovation in form and/or content in the performing and visual arts, film and video, and in emerging fields. They provide advisory services and professional development assistance along with multifaceted financial aid and promotional support.  

EMERGE 
EMERGE is a career tool for modern artists, built by artists. Hosted by the Developing Artist Collaboration (DAC), their mission is to assist artists of all kinds in their pursuit of full-time, sustainable creative careers.

FRACTURED ATLAS 
Fractured Atlas provides services, resources, and support to liberate a nation of artists. From healthcare to publicity to development grants, they supply critical tools for independent artists and arts organizations so they can focus on their creative responsibilities.  

GYO OBATA FELLOWSHIP
The Gyo Obata Fellowship for Arts Management matches undergraduate students with host cultural organizations and strives to create opportunities for more diverse, inclusive, and equitable access to the arts community, specifically in the fields of arts administration and management. The 10-week summer program includes an $8,000 stipend. 

MID-AMERICA ARTS ALLIANCE
The Mid-America Arts Alliance offers many grants, fellowships, professional development, and support opportunities throughout the year to artists in a variety of fields. 

MIDWEST ARTIST PROJECT SERVICES (MAPS) 
MAPS offers free or low-cost resources for working artists in all disciplines—visual artists, musicians, creative writers, craft artists, theater and dance artists, filmmakers, and other originating artists— in the St. Louis region and beyond.  

MISSOURI ALLIANCE FOR ARTS EDUCATION (MAAE) 
MAAE can help connect Missouri artists with professional learning opportunities and offers a wide selection of programs centered around teaching artists to help strengthen arts education in the state.  

ST. LOUIS ARTS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The St. Louis Arts Chamber of Commerce offers several professional development resources for artists and arts workers throughout the year. Membership gives you access to their resource hub, monthly speaker series and more. 

ST. LOUIS VOLUNTEER LAWYERS AND ACCOUNTANTS FOR THE ARTS (VLAA) WORKSHOP + CLINICS
VLAA connects artists and arts organizations with accountants and lawyers who donate their time and expertise to help navigate finance and law. Click here for upcoming VLAA workshops and clinics covering various professional development topics.

The VLAA supports the creative community in St. Louis by providing free legal and accounting assistance and rewarding volunteer opportunities, offering a wide variety of affordable educational programs, and advocating for the arts sector. AMERICANS FOR THE ARTS
Americans for the Arts serves, advances, and leads the network of organizations and individuals who cultivate, promote, sustain, and support the arts in America. They provide relevant research, programs, and resources, with the goal of providing every American access to the transformative power of the arts.  

ARTS EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP (AEP)
The Arts Education Partnership is a national network of more than 200 organizations dedicated to advancing arts education. AEP focuses on building leadership capacity for arts and education leaders. Through research, reports, convenings and counsel, leaders gain knowledge and insights to ensure that all learners receive an excellent arts education.  

ARTIST INC PUSHING THE FLYWHEEL
Artist INC’s Pushing the Flywheel blog lists national opportunities for artists, including grants, calls for art, residencies, and more.  

CREATIVE CAPITAL

CODAWORX
CODAworx is a hub for the commissioned art economy. Their platform connects creative talent with creative opportunities and provides digital tools to streamline the commission workflow process.

ENTERTAINMENT COMMUNITY FUND
The Entertainment Community Fund provides human services nationally for people who work in film, theater, television, music, opera, radio and dance. They offer a variety of services and programs focused on career and life, housing, health and wellness, and more.  

KRANZBERG ARTS FOUNDATION
The Kranzberg Arts Foundation is a community-driven organization dedicated to providing local artists and arts organizations the resources and infrastructure necessary for the arts to thrive in the St. Louis region. Through the development of performing arts venues, visual arts galleries, artist-focused programs, and workspaces for nonprofit arts organizations, the foundation nurtures the growth of artists and arts institutions. 

NATIONAL ACADEMY OF AMERICAN POETS
The Academy of American Poets supports poets at all stages of their careers, fostering the appreciation of contemporary poetry. They offer relevant resources and information to members and non-members. 

SAG-AFTRA
SAG-AFTRA is the most distinguished entertainment and media union in the world representing actors, announcers, broadcast journalists, dancers, DJs, news writers, news editors, program hosts, puppeteers, recording artists, singers, stunt performers, voiceover artists and other media professionals. Members receive a variety of benefits, including contracts/collective bargaining, eligibility for the SAG-AFTRA Health Plan, SAG-Producers Pension Plan, the AFTRA Retirement Fund, the iActor online casting database, and much more.

ST. LOUIS ARTS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The St. Louis Arts Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based collaborative of artists and patrons who are committed to establishing the greater St. Louis region as a premier arts destination. They aim to build a strong network of individuals and organizations with a shared interest in promoting and supporting professional growth, artistic expression and community engagement.

EMERGENCY FUNDS

AMERICAN FEDERATION OF MUSICIANS (AFM): LESTER PETRILLO MEMORIAL FUND
The Lester Petrillo Memorial Fund supplies modest amounts of assistance to qualified applicants on an emergency basis. 

AMERICAN GUILD OF MUSICAL ARTISTS RELIEF FUND
The American Guild of Musical Artists Relief Fund provides support and temporary financial assistance to AGMA members who are in need.  

AMERICAN SOCIETY OF JOURNALISTS & AUTHORS WRITERS EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FUND 
American Society of Journalists & Authors created the Writers Emergency Assistance Fund to help established freelance, nonfiction writers who, because of advanced age, illness, disability, a natural disaster, or an extraordinary professional crisis are unable to work. Membership not required.  

ARTISTS’ FELLOWSHIP, INC.
The Artists’ Fellowship is a private charitable foundation that financially assists professional visual artists and their families in times of emergency, disability or bereavement. Assistance is given without expectation of repayment. Membership not required. 

AUTHORS LEAGUE FUND 
Authors League Fund helps professional writers and dramatists who find themselves in financial need because of medical or health-related problems, temporary loss of income or other misfortune.  

BROADCASTERS’ FOUNDATION OF AMERICA (BFOA)
The Broadcasters Foundation of America has two types of grant programs: monthly grants supporting broadcasting professionals who are no longer able to work due to an illness, accident, or other misfortune and emergency grants supporting those affected by natural disasters and home emergencies.  

CARNEGIE FUND FOR AUTHORS
Carnegie Fund for Authors offers grants-in-aid to qualified commercially published book authors who have suffered financial emergency as a result of illness or injury or who have suffered some equivalent misfortune. 

CERF+ EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND FOR ARTISTS 
Craft Emergency Relief Fund –– CERF+ Emergency Relief Fund for Artists provides professional artists working in craft disciplines with emergency financial assistance. 

DRAMATISTS GUILD FOUNDATION
Dramatists Guild Foundation provides emergency financial assistance to individual playwrights, composers, lyricists, and book writers in dire need of funds due to severe hardship or unexpected illness.  

FOUNDATION FOR CONTEMPORARY ARTS EMERGENCY GRANTS
Foundation for Contemporary Arts provides emergency grants ($500-$2,500) by application to U.S.-based artists in all disciplines who have sudden opportunities or unexpected expenses to present work to the public.  

GRAND OLE OPRY TRUST FUND
Grand Ole Opry Trust Fund provides financial assistance in time of extraordinary need, emergency or catastrophe to individuals who are or have been employed full time in a facet of the country music industry (i.e. performer, songwriter, publisher, radio, session musician, etc.).  

JAZZ FOUNDATION OF AMERICA
Jazz Foundation of America provides jazz and blues artists with an experienced social worker to assess his/her situation and provide rapid assistance including financial support, legal services, housing counseling, and more.  

RENAISSANCE ENTERTAINERS, SERVICES, AND CRAFTERS UNITED FOUNDATION (RESCU)
RESCU advocate for, serve, and have financial aid available to anyone who has ever held a participant pass at a Renaissance festival anywhere throughout the United States. 

THE ARTISTS’ CHARITABLE FUND
The Artists’ Charitable Fund assists visual artists facing financial crisis by paying a portion of medical expenses for artists in crisis.  

THE PEN WRITERS FUND
The PEN Writers Fund offers emergency funds for professional, published or produced writers with serious financial difficulties.  

THE RAUSCHENBERG MEDICAL EMERGENCY GRANTS
This program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for recent unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies to artists in financial need who are creating in the visual arts, film/video/electronic/digital arts, and choreography.
