Jason Schipkowski joined the Regional Arts Commission in September 2022. In his role as Communications Manager, he amplifies the voices of artists and arts organizations and highlights St. Louis City and County as an outstanding, vibrant creative and cultural hub. With more than 16 years of experience in communications, Jason has nurtured a nuanced, authentic approach to multi-media storytelling. His background ranges from nonprofit leadership centered on marketing, development, and equity to building successful consumer brands from the ground up.
Jason received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a focus on photography and an emphasis in journalism, earning multiple artist awards in juried competition. A lifelong resident of St. Louis City and the surrounding metro area, he brings his pride and support for this diverse community of creators who enrich our surroundings. He has had the pleasure of collaborating on special initiatives with civic and philanthropic leaders locally, regionally, and nationally to encourage equitable access to resources, including the University of Denver and First Nations Development Institute. His passion for meaningful storytelling is guided by listening and a deep sense of curiosity, with a particular interest in narrative change.
Previously, Jason served as Director of Marketing and Sales at COCA (Center of Creative Arts), Senior Program Manager at the Humane Society of the United States’ Pets for Life program based in Washington D.C., Director of Marketing and Development at Stray Rescue of St. Louis and filled strategic and creative positions at St. Louis-based branding agencies.
