About
Installed in 1994, Firemen’s Memorial contains a plaque that reads, “Dedicated to St. Louis firefighters past, present, and future.” The memorial, sculpted by R. P. Daus, depicts a figure of a fireman in uniform and helmet carrying a little girl to safety. The figure stands atop a granite pedestal with bas-relief portraits of firefighters. A similar statue honoring policemen was completed the year before Firemen’s Memorial and stands in the Civil Courts Plaza downtown. Firemen’s Memorial stands facing the entrance to City Hall on Market Street.
