The wood seat is a reference to a car door handle of a ’53 Lincoln. Underneath the bench are writings collected from the community and engraved into the wood with a burnishing iron.

Carol Fleming received her Master of Fine Arts from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 1987 and created her first studio in Maplewood, Missouri in 1988. She now lives and works in Ladue, Missouri.
