The Old Newsboy Statue was originally commissioned by Ted Wetterau. Unfortunately, Ted passed away prior to the statue’s permanent placement. Since Mr. Watterau’s death, his daughter, Mrs. Beth (Wetterau) Harbison decided it should reside in the Central West End.

Artist Bio: b. 1953
Jaye teaches figurative sculpture at St. Louis Community College at Meramec, and takes as many classes as she can (sculpture, drawing, and metalsmithing) at Fontbonne University in St. Louis. Her primary interest is in studying the female figure as it appears, rather than creating an idealized version of it. Her study of poses is introspective rather than dynamic.
