For 95 years, St. Louisans went to the landmark department store Famous-Barr to shop for gifts and celebrate special moments. Although Famous-Barr shuttered in 2006, people have kept wonderful memories of it.
Showing until Jan. 14, this mini exhibit at the Campbell House Museum spotlights some of the designs and stories created by Famous-Barr at Christmastime, from iconic holiday windows to signature holiday packaging.
The exhibit includes toys purchased at Famous-Barr, a camera used to take photos with Santa, a 100-photo slideshow of Christmas windows and a recreation of one of the windows featuring the original animatronic bears.
Admission includes parking and a guided tour of the period rooms at the Campbell House Museum.
