Carol Carter will talk about her latest body of work, THREADS, featuring portraits of immigrants, and celebrating the richness and diversity of people who make up America. She will touch on the stories of her portrait subjects and how the project evolved into a documentation of 75 people in the St. Louis community who now call the United States ‘home’. Carter says, “Each portrait represents a colorful thread in the tapestry of our great nation, telling a story of dignity, promise, and fulfillment.”
The THREADS exhibition is comprised of 75 watercolor portraits, representing some 37 nations of origin. Each painting is accompanied by a summary of the immigrant’s experience in making their way to the United States.
