“Sixty Years Under the Stars”

The Gateway Festival Orchestra and Guest Conductor Leon Burke III invite you to “Sixty Years Under the Stars”, a celebration of the orchestra’s 60th anniversary season.

Experience the grandeur of John Meurer’s Gateway Fanfare and March, the energy of von Suppé’s Light Cavalry Overture, and the magic of Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. Guest Artist violin virtuoso Matt Pickart will dazzle you with Tchaikovsky’s entrancing Violin Concerto. The evening ends with spellbinding melodies from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera and the swashbuckling adventure of Hans Zimmer’s Pirates of the Caribbean medley.

Join us Sunday July 7th at 7:30 PM in the open air of Washington University Brookings Quadrangle. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and a picnic. “Notes to Munch On”, an informal discussion of the evening’s selections, begins in the Quad at 7:10 PM. The concert is free.
