Purpose
The primary function of the Public Art committee is to oversee the RAC’s role as communicator and funder of public art. This committee, comprised of regional public art experts and RAC commissioners, will guide the development of best practice processes and resources and ensure a fair, equitable and effective distribution of public art funds.
Duties
- Establish, review and update public art grant programs, process, and policies on a periodic basis
- Review and approve public art award/commission recommendations
- Review public art budget in conjunction with RAC’s regular budgeting process
- Serve as a public art application/proposal reviewer at least once annually
- Participate in review process for public art proposals that are submitted to Board of Public Service (BPS)
- Advise on the communications strategy, policy, and best practices that support the promotion of public arts across the region
The Public Art committee will meet at least 4 times per year (once quarterly) and hold additional meetings on an as needed basis to review BPS and other proposals.
