Andrea Moon, Dryden Wells, & Ahzad Bogosian

Duane Reed Gallery warmly welcomes the return of St. Louis based ceramicists Andrea Moon and Dryden Wells and landscape painter Ahzad Bogosian. Partners in the studio and in life, Wells and Moon’s skills have brought them to Arrowmont School of Craft, Red Lodge Clay Center, Jingdezhen, China and now Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Andrea Moon constructs complex ceramic structures through the repetition of simple forms. By stacking stoneware ribbons or building up coils into basket-like structures, Moon produces networks with each piece relying on its neighbor to build a larger whole. Outside of the studio, Moon has prioritized the construction of a strong arts community, directing residency and education programs at the Red Lodge Clay Center, The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China, and Craft Alliance, St. Louis. Dryden Wells is a ceramicist and sculptor based in St. Louis, whose work is inspired by the process of creation. With years of experience as an instructor, fabricator, and technician of metals, ceramics, and wood, Wells’ sense of curiosity and discovery guides his artistic practice. Drawing inspiration from “the act of construction, deconstruction and reconstruction,” Wells creates work with polish, playfulness, and a commitment to craft. Presenting his latest body of work, “Presence,” Bogosian captures light, land, and the protean midwestern sky. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Ahzad Bogosian holds both BFA and MFA degrees from Fontbonne University and was enrolled in the MFA program at Washington University. Channeling the Midwest and Western landscapes as sources for his mood-rich paintings, Bogosian has developed an extensive and breathtaking body of work.
