“Beauty in Diversity: Through Their Eyes” will be an exhibit of artwork by persons who identify themselves as having a unique perspective on the world. You who are positioned to see life differently from the mainstream (whatever/whoever that might be) are invited to submit up to three works for consideration. No more than one artwork will be selected from each individual artist. In addition to submitting your work, it is required that you accompany this with an artist statement in which you describe your unique perspective, for example:
“As a woman who grew up in the midst of domestic violence, I use my art to reconcile my trauma by…” or- “I emphasize themes from my cultural background in my work by…”
Selection will be based on the statement as well as the artwork.
Other examples of diverse human experience: member of a minority, elderly, an immigrant, gender-nonconforming, struggles with a disability, is in recovery…
