The Gateway Festival Orchestra and Guest Conductor Christopher Kelts invite you to “Gateway West”, a journey through a landscape of iconic Western-inspired melodies and symphonic wonders.
From the spirited Cowboys’ Overture by John Williams to the lively dances from Rodeo by Aaron Copland, feel the pulse of the Wild West come alive. Dive into the timeless theme of Elmer Bernstein’s The Magnificent Seven, while reveling in the operatic brilliance of Puccini’s Prelude from La Funciulla del West. The evening ends with the majestic sounds of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 From the New World.
Join us Sunday July 21 at 7:30 PM outdoors at the Washington University Brookings Quadrangle. Bring the kids, a lawn chair or blanket, and a picnic. “Notes to Munch On”, an informal discussion of the evening’s selections, begins in the Quad at 7:10 PM. The concert is free. Ted Drewes Frozen Custard will be available for purchase. For more information go to http://gatewayfestivalorchestra.org
