Mary Meachum Living History

On May 16, you’re invited to an immersive living history experience at the Mary Meachum Freedom Crossing, Missouri’s first recognized site on the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom.

During the event, you can engage with stories of locals who resisted enslavement and fought for their freedom. Hear about a Civil War veteran who became the namesake of an area park, one person’s escape that almost caused a war with Canada and the nine people who fled for freedom at this very location.

It’s also worth mentioning that the 22nd annual Mary Meachum Freedom Crossing Celebration will be held on Oct. 19. This year’s theme is American Slavery: Wouldn’t Take Nothing For My Journey.
