Turn Upon Them: Reveal to Heal

Opening Reception of Turn Upon Them: Reveal to Heal art show is an artistic expression of injustice, healing, and communal outreach from the actions to powerful words of Ida B. Wells, ‘The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them.’

Wells understood the transformative power of truth-telling and used her skills, investigative journalism, and community organizing to confront (in)justice. Today, artists continue to build upon pioneers like Wells, extending their creativity to engage with communities and provoke dialogue on pressing issues. Artists use visual art and language not only as a medium of self-expression but also as a tool for education, healing, and advocacy. Through gatherings, public installations, and interactive projects, they aim to uncover hidden truths, challenge dominant narratives, and foster empathy and understanding.
