These oil-on-metal panels create an image of the Star of David that changes as the viewer moves around and through the composition. The tall panels and bright colors are characteristic of Agam’s work, which is reminiscent of a zootrope or other illusory static-picture device.

Yaacov Agam
Artist Bio: b. 1928
Yaacov Agam is an Israeli sculptor who contributed largely to the kinetic art movement and the optical art movement. His work is often monumental and nearly always interactive. Agam studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem before moving to Zurich, Switzerland, and Paris, France. He was strongly influenced by the painter and sculptor Max Bill. Agam currently lives and works in Paris.
