About

The bust Louis G. memorializes the late collector of revenue who was known for years as “King of the Hill” because of his political supremacy in the Italian section of the city. The original design for the statue was rejected by the City’s Heritage and Urban Design Commission. A revised design was approved and the monument was cast and delivered to the site by the foundry. It remained shrouded in its opaque shipping plastic on the site for six months, until city staff discovered it and a formal acceptance and dedication were arranged.
