Skimming the Waves

By Geoffrey C. Smith
Category: Sculpture

About

Skimming the Waves is a perfect example of the grace and agility Smith is able to convey in his sculptures. The heron in this piece, held up by a narrow supporting pole, seems to glide along the surface of imaginary waves as if scanning for a small morsel to snatch up in his beak. The lifelike features of the heron and its realistic proportions make it an intimate piece, but also a majestic one.
